Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1990, the Laguna Roadster Concept packed sporty performance, celebrating a return to the joy of driving.
The roadster made a mark as a contributor to innovation in passive safety. It was a modern two-seater sports car with an original layout. The cabin featured an ultra-forward position and semi-automatic gullwing doors.
Occupants would wear a protective visor fitted with infrared radio transceivers for communication with each other. Its mobile roll bar system was capable of deploying in one-tenth of a second, controlled by a sensor system.
The Laguna Roadster foreshadowed the Renault Sport Spider launched in 1996.
