The Mégane II was launched in 2002 and paved the way for a complete renewal of Renault’s product line-up in the C segment, the biggest in the European automobile market. With a distinctive look and a number of memorable TV adverts, the Mégane II provided plenty of character and enjoyment for drivers and passengers. Mégane II was named European Car of the Year in 2003 and was the first in its segment to receive a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Mégane II also offered innovative comfort features and an intelligent approach to travelling pleasure which Renault introduced on higher-segment models.
The Mégane II was the first C-segment model to receive the full Renault Sport treatment, with a number of special editions to commemorate The Renault F1 Team’s world championship winning efforts. The Mégane Renault Sport range culminated with the R26.R, which, at the time was Renault’s most track-focussed road car.
