  • All-New ZOE Van wins the compact van ‘Best Value for Ownership Costs’ category in the new What Car? Van Awards
  • Judges praise the all-electric LCV for its predicted residual values and attractive running costs
  • Award comes only weeks after the All-New ZOE Van officially went on sale
  • Over four years the All-New ZOE Van can generate savings of up to £5,000 compared to a similarly sized van with a traditional engine
  • Predicted residual values after three years/60,000 miles are 10 per cent more than nearest rival
  • All-New ZOE Van benefits from a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty
  • Priced from £19,722 (excluding VAT) after the Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG)

Only weeks after officially going on sale, the All-New Renault ZOE Van has carried away its first accolade after winning the compact van ‘Best Value for Ownership Costs’ category in the inaugural What Car? Van Awards.

The 100 per cent electric All-New ZOE Van took home the award after winning over the What Car? judging panel with its strong predicted residual values and lower running costs than other compact vans.

On the renowned magazine and website’s decision to declare the All-New ZOE Van its ‘Best Value for Ownership Costs’ champion in the hard-fought compact van sector, Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, said: “We’ve run the numbers and, while a super-economical diesel engine in a small van will provide you with great fuel consumption, it still can’t eclipse the savings that can be had from running on electricity.

“Residual value predictions are also strong for the ZOE, with early predictions putting its future resale cost almost 20 per cent higher than many engined rivals, buoyed no doubt by the fact that it makes perfect sense that the city is the natural habitat for a compact van, and also an environment where range limitations – it gets 245 miles per charge on the official test cycle – are unlikely to be an issue. There are also savings to be had anywhere ULEZ zones are in force, a factor that is likely to become increasingly important.”

Compared to a car-derived van of a similar size and powered by a traditional engine, the All-New ZOE Van could generate savings of circa £5,000 over a typical four-year ownership, even after the cost of installing a charge point is taken into consideration. Fuel naturally accounts for the majority of this, but savings are also generated via the zero cost of VED and lower Service, Maintenance and Repair (SMR) costs.

After 36 months and 60,000 miles its predicted residual value remains at 37.16 per cent, which is around 10 per cent more than its main rival in the sector.

What Car? first started testing commercial vehicles in 2018. It has launched its new Van Awards based on the strength of the light commercial vehicle market and to help buyers easily identify the very best vans that are available today.

Mark Dickens, Fleet Director, Groupe Renault UK, said: “At what is a particularly challenging time for fleets and when many are facing the complexities of switching to electric vehicles, it’s very rewarding to see What Car? recognise how the All-New ZOE Van can help cost-conscious businesses to save costs. Its introduction has further strengthened the expanding Z.E. PRO+ range, offering more choice than ever to commercial vehicle buyers who are looking to make the change to an electric van.”

The All-New ZOE Van is based on the multi award-winning ZOE passenger car, which won the ‘Best Small Electric Car’ category in the 2020 What Car? Awards and which has been honoured at the annual What Car? ceremony for the last seven years.

Combining the same advanced specification of the ZOE with a load volume of one cubic metre and a recently enhanced maximum payload of up to 457kg excluding the driver (Business specification), the All-New ZOE Van is available in two generous trim levels – Business and Business+.

It offers a WLTP combined range of up to 245 miles on a single charge on Business models and via the 50kW DC charging option can be charged from zero to 80 per cent in just one hour and ten minutes. Its R110 motor delivers zero to 31mph acceleration in only 3.9 seconds – making the All-New ZOE Van ideal for urban journeys with stop-start traffic, and a perfect fit for tasks such as multidrop deliveries, and for use by utility companies and local authorities, for example. All of which are completed with zero tailpipe emissions.

As it’s based on the regular ZOE, the All-New ZOE Van benefits from the same assurances that New ZOE customers enjoy. That means it boasts a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty that gives customers greater peace of mind, mirroring the rest of Renault’s car range. The first two years feature unlimited mileage restrictions, while the remaining three have a 100,000-mile limit. In addition, the Z.E. 50 battery receives an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

The All-New ZOE Van is priced from £19,722 (excluding VAT) after the Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG).

Renault PRO+ now offers the widest range of all-electric commercial vehicles of any manufacturer, the line-up also including the Renault Kangoo Z.E. and the Renault Master Z.E. For full details of the Renault PRO+ Z.E. range, please visit www.renault.co.uk/live-electric/business
