The Renault 4 was a replacement for the 4CV with the option of either a 747cc or 845cc engine.It was launched at the same time as the Renault 3 in 1961 and it became somewhat of a revolution. The car abandoned the rear-engine concept sustained since 1947 in favour for a more conventional front-engine layout as the world’s first production car with a completely sealed engine cooling system and pushed hatchback vehicles into fashion.
